Yantra Yoga First and Second Series with Paula Barry
A continuation following the Beginner's Yantra course in December. Open to the public. All are welcome.
Yantra Yoga or the Yoga of Movement, is one of the oldest recorded systems of Yoga that exists in the world, coming to us through Tibet.
"In the practice of Yantra Yoga we use our body, our voice or our breath and our mind. With the body we do positions and movements, with the voice/breath there are many techniques of pranayamas or breathing practices and with the mind there are many ways to concentrate and visualize. The aim is to go beyond judging and thinking with our mind. We call this contemplation. When we apply all these three aspects together, we have the possibility to arrive at our real knowledge or the understanding of our primordial state, our original condition. That is the real meaning of yoga in Yantra Yoga."

Yantra Yoga: First and Second Series with Paula Barry
In this follow-up course to the introductory course that was taught in December we will review and practice the movements for loosening the joints and the 8 Yantras for purifying the Prana. In addition we will learn and practice the basic Yantras of the First and Second series of Yantras. The Yantras of all five series of Yantras train the practitioner in the five types of retention of the breath: open hold, directed hold, closed hold, contracted hold and empty hold. By studying and practicing the first 2 series the practitioner will be able to have a choice of Yantras that best suits his/her body and capacity. We will also learn modifications of the Yantras as necessary, so that practitioners of any level of flexibility will be able to have the experience of the hold and the benefits to body, energy and mind that come from learning to coordinate breathing with movement and the retention of the breath.
