On Saturday and Sunday April 12 & 13 we will learn a method called kumbhaka, which literally means, “to hold.” Kumbhaka is the final goal and aim of the entire system of Yantra Yoga, to train in order to hold and bring the karmic prana into the central channel in order to have an experience of the non-dual state, or Dzogchen, the authentic condition beyond limitations.
The ideal way to enter the practice of kumbhaka is to have a strong base in Yantra Yoga. If in depth Yantra Yoga practice has evaded you, for whatever reason, we will try to apply the principles of Yantra Yoga beginning with an understanding of the profound method of complete breathing together with simple movement - some directly linked to Yantra Yoga and some helpful in understanding the principle of the applied breath and holdings, coordinated with movement, that helps one to enter kumbhaka.
The participants should have a base in Yantra Yoga with at least some experience and understanding of the preliminaries. We will use the basics of Yantra Yoga, the pranayamas, and together with whatever methods work to help people understand the breathing and holdings, we will try to increase our understanding and direct experience of kumbhaka.
